About Us
Fair Choices was an concept by its owner Willie Keohane (formerly from County Cork, Ireland) to bring the first exciting Fair Trade store to the Logan and Beenleigh area. For a long time Willie had admired and been amazed by the crafts made in the producer groups and his wife Carol had been an advocate of Fair Trade for many years through contact with producer groups through her sister in law from Siham Craftlink, a Fair Trade Importer and wholesaler in Australia. A visit to the Fair Choices Gift Shop will bring a sense of the colour and skill of the artisans who work in the Fair Trade producer groups in India, Pakistan, Peru, Thailand and Bangladesh. Every item is a work of art instilled with the pride of the artisan in the production of it. The benefits to the artisans are very tangible, education and medical assistance are provided, no abuse of child labour and a fair price for the items they produce. Before working under the Fair Trade principals some of these artisans were exploited or had no opportunity to work. Fair Choices is full of beautiful home decor gifts, items made from recycled materials, finger and hand puppets , dolls and dressup costumes and excitingly different wall hangings, gifts for the hard to buy for person or a special gift for someone you love. When a gift is purchased from Fair Choices you know that the artisans who produced the beautiful items are fairly treated , fairly paid and the benefits of this flow on to some of the most impoverished communities in the world.
